LaVondra lost 117 pounds

LaVondra lost 117 pounds. Her husband passed away in 2019 after suffering from several chronic illnesses. She told us that she kept thinking, “I have to be around for our kids and be the best me I can be.” She is working hard to achieve those goals by changing her eating habits, changing her mindset, and making fitness a priority.

Lavondra before and after

What is your motivation?
I am a mother of two (a six year old and a two year old). I’m also a widow. My husband died last year in January. He suffered from several chronic diseases that we could have managed better with diet and exercise. He was just 37 years old. After he died, I kept thinking, “I have to be around for our kids and be the best me I can be.”

When did you start your transformation journey?
In April 2019, I started eating better and slowly moved into exercise.

How did you change your eating habits?
I prepped my meals for the week and stayed under 50 grams of carbs daily. I cut out sugar and certain carbs (like white flour, white rice, potatoes… stuff like that).

Tell us about your workout routine.
For exercise, I started just walking three times a week. Then, I moved to going to the gym and setting small goals for myself. I work out 5-6 days a week now, including running and weight training to combat the excess skin.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 298 pounds, and now I weigh 181 pounds. I’ve lost a total of 117 pounds! There are no secrets, shortcuts, or magic pills. It’s a lifestyle change and one I’m happy I did!

What is your height?
I’m 5’3″.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that we are stronger than we allow ourselves to believe. You can do anything you set your mind and focus on!

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to start small, set small goals, and build from there. You can absolutely do it!!
