Nicole lost 50 pounds

Transformation of the Day: Nicole lost 50 pounds by changing her lifestyle. Her inspiration is her mom, who passed away due to complications of diabetes. She changed her eating habits by doing things like maintaining a calorie deficit and using portion control.

Nicole before and after

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My inspiration is my mom. She died two years ago from complications of diabetes, which runs in our family. I fell into a depression and did a lot of emotional eating. I decided to turn things around because I know my mom wouldn’t want me to be sad. I wanted to break the cycle and make sure I am around for a long time for my family.

What keeps me going on my journey is living this new lifestyle and my desire to push my mind and body to its limits.

How did you change your eating habits?

I changed my eating habits in various ways. I practiced intermittent fasting combined with Weight Watchers and a few online fitness programs as well. I still eat everything I did before. However, I use portion control, and my intake of high caloric foods are at a minimum now.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I work out 5-6 times a week. I started out doing mostly cardio, and now I am doing strength training more to build muscle.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 202 pounds, and I now weigh 152 pounds.

What is your height?
I am 5’1″.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in September 2019 and still am going. I started seeing results after two weeks. The inches were coming off fast on my waist, and the inches and pounds just kept coming off from there.

The changes I’ve made have become a lifestyle, so I am not necessarily trying to get to a certain weight, more or less. I just want to be healthy.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not do any weight loss surgery.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson I learned during this process is to be patient with myself and trust the process. Maintaining a caloric deficit and exercising will get you the weight loss you seek.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Just be patient. You didn’t put on the weight overnight, so it won’t come off overnight.
