Auni lost 30 pounds

Auni lost 30 pounds. After giving birth to her son, she struggled to adjust to motherhood, being a college student, moving cross country, and her husband’s deployment. In the midst of all that, she realized that she needed to prioritize her happiness, health, and fitness.

Auni before and after

Prior to becoming pregnant, I was very healthy and into fitness. During the first 12 months postpartum, I struggled with my weight. I was trying to adjust to new motherhood, college, preparing to move across the country, and my husband going away on a deployment.

During this time, anything that did not revolve around my college assignments, my son, or my husband was left on the back burner, including my needs. It wasn’t until we moved to a new state that I began to prioritize myself, my happiness and my fitness again.

Finding myself after becoming a mom and wife has been one of the most wonderful experiences ever. This journey has taught me that I can be both goal oriented and family oriented, as well as selfless and selfish (within reason). I can also be a great mom and wife without compromising my individuality.

193 pounds postpartum to 163 pounds

How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting out pork, candy, and alcohol.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consisted of resistance training 3-4 times a week and cardio 5-6 times a week.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight (postpartum) was 193 pounds. My current weight is 163 pounds.

What is your height?
My height is 5 feet, 6 inches.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey nearly 23 months ago after the birth of my son (due to my struggle with postpartum preeclampsia and high blood pressure).

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned that not every woman’s body will snap back instantly after the birth of a child, and that’s okay. Developing a healthy lifestyle is more important than snapping back to your pre-pregnancy body.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I haven’t had weight loss surgery.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I’d like for women on their weight loss journey to know that everyone’s body is different. The results that one person sees may not happen for you. However, if you keep working out and eating healthy, the results meant for you will show up.

Don’t get so caught up in the many roles, titles, or relationships you have and jeopardize the relationship you have with yourself. It’s never too late to change the narrative of your life and make yourself the main character.

Go, and do it! I hope this message reaches and inspires someone who needs it.
